PrintLab launches online 3D Printing learning portal for teachers

PrintLab, a UK-based 3D printer reseller and distributor, encourages teachers to use 3D printing by launching PrintLab Classroom, a classroom portal featuring 3D printing creative projects, workbooks, tutorials and teacher training guides.

The platform is composed of a group of specialists in 20 countries, whose goal is to support 3D printing in education. You may certainly recall school 3D printing labs or the series of workshops in CAD and 3D printing to women in India.

The truth is that, the 3D printing technology has become very essential to industries within the last 5 years and teachers do not always have the required knowledge to teach students.

PrintLab Classroom: the concept

PrintLab Classroom will therefore enable teachers to integrate additive manufacturing into subjects such as science, technology, engineering, arts, math, computing, geography, history, languages and many more.

Lecturers who subscribe to the program will get access to 12 creative projects, with two new lessons being added to the portal every month. The teacher will receive everything he/she needs to teach with the lesson. Information will include learning criteria; downloadable presentations and student workbooks or video tutorials.

The portal is also available for libraries, makerspaces, STEM clubs, parents, and hobbyists.

Additive manufacturing is exponentially growing and is a vital tool across a range of industries,” explained PrintLabs co-founder Jason Leung. “This means we must prepare the next generation for their future careers by addressing the widening skills gap.”

Indeed, teachers need an engaging solution “which makes their challenge of inspiring young people possible”.

Lastly, PrintLab encourages lecturers by offering free trial lesson plans.
