Meet Reciflex, Recreus’ flexible TPU filament 100% recycled for 3D printing

Materials producer Recreus has just introduced a new flexible material TPU filament, 100% recycled for 3D printing.

Since its inception, the Spain-based company is on a mission to bring its contribution for a better circular economy. As a matter of fact, “Recreus” stands for “Recycle”, “Create” and “Use”. Founded by Ignacio García, industrial engineer by training and technology enthusiast, the company develops, manufactures and globally distributes flexible filaments and other 3D printing materials.

Reciflex

The new TPU consists of waste from the footwear industry and from Recreus’ own internal production processes.

According to the producer, the material is carefully selected and magnetically screened for production in order to prevent metallic residue and to ensure a good printing process. Recreus ensures that it delivers excellent mechanical properties and good resistance to solvents, with an exceptional standard of quality.

Its hardness ranges between 96A and 98A SHORE ‘A’ due to the variations attributable to its origin as a recycled material, almost imperceptible in the printed items. “We recommend melt temperature of 220-235°C and printing speed between 20- 60 mm/s with a bed temperature of 50-60ºC”, the company said in a press communication.

Reciflex is only available in black, as the black pigment is added once all the recycled colours have been mixed in order to homogenise the product and obtain a definitive solid, shiny black colour.

Lastly, this flexible TPU is a good candidate for the manufacture of parts with demanding mechanical requirements such as parts that require resistance to solvents, protective covers for GoPro, mobile phones, protection for drones, wheels for radio-controlled cars and robots.

It is currently available and for sale in 750 gr and 3 kg size, as well as in 1.75 mm and 2.85 mm diameter.
