Infinite Material Solutions unveils a water-soluble support that is compatible with high-temperature 3D printable thermoplastics

AquaSys 180

Materials producer Infinite Material Solutions has released a new water-soluble 3D printing support material. Called AquaSys® 180, the new material can withstand exceptional FDM printing conditions related to high-temperature thermoplastics such as Polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and Polyetherimide (PEI), therefore decreasing the cost and time of downstream processing.

Infinite Material Solutions, LLC is a relatively new entrant on the additive manufacturing market. The company is a joint venture between Nagase America, a multinational manufacturer-distributor of raw materials and specialty chemicals, and Interfacial Consultants LLC, a Wisconsin based firm that develops technology platforms.

Two years ago, the materials company developed a water-soluble product for 3D printing processes. Named AquaSys® 120, it is compatible with various materials such as ABS, Nylon TPU, CPE, PC, and PP, and is currently available via UK-based distributor 3DGBIRE.

With the release of AquaSys® 180, the company aims to further enhance the printing process of FDM 3D printed products, by removing the manual process at this stage of the fabrication or the use of harmful solvents.

Indeed, the company explains that by using the AquaSys® 180, users can dissolve support structures with warm tap water, leaving behind a finished part with minimal residue—effectively rendering these previous, laborious methods obsolete.

We are extremely excited to launch our AquaSys® 180 product,” says Infinite Material Solutions’ founder Dr. Jeff Cernohous. “AquaSys® 180 can be printed at chamber temperatures up to 180°C and has been engineered to function with high-temperature engineering thermoplastics like PEEK, PEKK, PEI and PPSU, providing unprecedented design freedom to our customers as a result. I am extremely proud of my team for their efforts to create this disruptive product.”
