3D Printing Filaments Nanovia VX can eliminate up to 95,3 % of viruses in only 1 hour

The release of Nanovia VX, a range of virucidal 3D printing filaments developed by French company Nanovia was very timely last year, as the Covid-19 pandemic was at its peak. Since then, the materials producer has enhanced the filaments’ efficiency as it announces today that they can eliminate up to to 95.3% of coronaviruses (h1n1) in only 1 hour.

The company states that these tests have been realized on 3D FDM printed test samples using the ISO norm 21702: Measurement of antiviral activity on plastics and other non-porous surfaces.

Asides to their ability to remove viruses, the company has also improved the printability of the material which can now be used in all FDM 3D printers.

As a reminder, the certified virucidal filaments (Nanovia Flex VX & Nanovia PLA VX) enable the fabrication of structures sensible to biological contaminations in both medical and industrial fields.

We also learn in a short press release we received from the company that the VX pellets for plastic injection are now also available in film form for direct application and vacuum / thermo forming.
