3D Printed RC Boat serves you drinks, snacks and plays your favourite song during your pool time

3D printed rc boat

In the top three of people’s favourite summer activities, you will easily find walking, hiking and going to the beach/ swimming the pool. Imagine now that you are chilling in the swimming pool, and a 3D printed radio-controlled (RC) boat brings you some drinks and snacks; and on top of that plays your favourite song. Is it not the perfect definition of “enjoying the sun”?

Well the idea of a 3D printed radio-controlled comes from YouTuber and engineer Alister who wanted to help a friend maximize his pool time. Even though his RC boat first made me think of this 3D printed autonomous “roboats” unveiled in Amsterdam three years ago, Alister’s boat is prettier and more functional.

Inspired by Snack Float, a roboat developed by Excalibur Electronics that could carry up to five drinks and snacks and that was handled by a radio-controlled unit that used one 9V battery and 6D batteries, Alister’s 3D printed roboat features a certain originality in the way it has been built.

First, it has been printed with a resin overcoat material to facilitate its floating on water. The manufacturing process required simple Creality CR-10 and Ender 3 Pro 3D printers for the bigger parts, and a Creality ld-002r resin printer, for the smaller parts.

The device uses brushless thrusters, and is equipped with a water cannon, a sound system, and a pirate flag, that can be operated remotely. The user can control it using a transmitter with differential thrust for the movement of the boat.  Switches have also been made available to handle the water cannon, MP3 player, and flagpole.

Ah and most importantly, the RC waiter can serve up to four bottles and snacks in the centre.
