Vivobarefoot introduces 3D printed barefoot sandals

Vivobarefoot, a running shoe company, expands its portfolio with the launch of 3D-printed barefoot sandals named VivoBiome Tabi Gen 01.

The scan-to-print process helps to create tailor-made sandals. The custom-fit sandal would come with barefoot health benefits, zero-stock, low waste production, and a form that adapts to the natural foot.

This is not just a sandal. It’s a return to human-centric design, built with cutting-edge patented scan-to-print technology ushering in the future of low-waste and on-demand local footwear production that enables natural mobility and improve your well-being,” the company says.

While the company claims to be the first to launch fully 3D printed sandals, it should be noted that a few brands already preceded it. They include ASICS, OESH® Shoes, or even OLT Footcare.  Vivobarefoot may not have revealed the AM process used at the manufacturing level, but the look of the sandals made us think of MultiJet Fusion.

That said, these brands all share the same vision: walking barefoot “supports natural foot development, enhances balance and proprioception, prevents deformities, reduces joint stress, and improves overall foot health.”

The company announced a limited 590-pair run and is expected to deliver more pairs in 2026. Available in Obsidian Black, Mineral Grey, Forest Green, and Earth Brown, the VivoBiome Tabi Gen 01 Sandal retails at  £140 (€166).
