GA-ASI and Conflux Sign new MoU to build flight-qualified Fuel Oil Heat Exchanger using Additive Manufacturing

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) deepens its partnership with Conflux Technology through the signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The announcement follows the debut of a new partnership with Divergent to manufacture a new line of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS).

Our continued partnership with General Atomics is a milestone for the commercialization of additively manufactured heat exchangers within the aerospace and defence markets, carrying the significant weight and performance benefits offered by these technologies towards production,” said Abe Masoud, Conflux Business Development Manager – North America.

The designer of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) systems and the expert in Additive Manufacturing (AM) for heat exchanger applications have been working together for several years now. Their new MoU aims to build a flight-qualified Fuel Oil Heat Exchanger (FOHE) for GA-ASI platforms.

We continue to work closely with Conflux on the design and manufacture of FOHE for our aircraft,” said Ken Loving, GA-ASI Regional Vice President for Indo-Pacific. “Through this new MOU, we will establish a clear path to production for the heat exchanger components used by multiple GA-ASI production lines.”

GA-ASI’s comprehensive portfolio includes reliable remotely piloted aircraft (RPA) systems, radars, and electro-optic and related mission systems, including the Predator® RPA series and the Lynx® Multi-mode Radar.

With over seven million flight hours, GA-ASI provides long-endurance, mission-capable aircraft with integrated sensor and data link systems required to deliver persistent flight that enables situational awareness and rapid strike. The company also produces a variety of ground control stations and sensor control/image analysis software, offers pilot training and support services, and develops meta-material antennas.
