“With ASME’s support, Wi3DP will gain access to resources that go beyond what a 100% volunteer-run organization can sustain. This partnership ensures the organization not only survives, but thrives and scales, because we need a strong Women in 3D Printing now more than ever,” Nora Touré said.
Reading these words from Nora moved me – because of everything I have discovered through this organization and community. But this is not about what I discovered. This is about the new chapter of a supportive community in the industry: Women in 3D printing, now part of ASME.
Known as an organization that helps standards evolve in the AM industry, ASME is also committed to ensuring that engineers from all backgrounds have access to meaningful professional development, leadership pathways, and technical knowledge.
Their Programs & Philanthropy (P&P) department supports initiatives that span:
- Inclusive strategy and programming
- Professional and workforce development portfolio
- Innovation in fields such as robotics, clean energy, and additive manufacturing.
- K-12 stem education and collegiate outreach
What does that mean for Wi3DP?
With ASME’s support, Wi3DP can expand its impact, scale its programming, and increase access to new audiences and regions.
Wi3DP will now operate under ASME’s Programs & Philanthropy department, led by Pooja Singh, Program Manager, Strategic Initiatives. A mechanical engineer with an MBA and PMP certification, Pooja brings both technical insight and strategic vision to guide this next chapter for Wi3DP.
Wi3DP’s programming will now be integrated across several high-impact ASME initiatives, including:
- ASME’s Women in Engineering programs such as the Women’s Leadership Collective
- The ASME Foundation’s workforce development portfolio, including programs like the Engineering for Change Fellowship and Scholarships for Future Engineers
- Additive manufacturing content and panels at ASME’s flagship events like the International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) and AM Industry Summit at RAPID + TCT
- K–12 and university-level programs, such as ASME INSPIRE and EFx student events, that reach thousands of early-career engineers globally
We will also be aligning Wi3DP chapters with ASME’s global network of professional Sections and Technical Divisions, allowing for greater synergy and shared resources.
“Looking ahead, I am committed to making this new chapter for Wi3DP successful. I will serve as an advisor to make the transition seamless and will continue to offer my guidance and support to the ASME team. I’m confident that together we can continue building a more inclusive, innovative future for additive manufacturing – and I look forward to what the next ten years will bring,” Nora concludes.
