How does it function?

Once they are registered, participants have direct access to regular updates published by additive manufacturing specialists: examples of applications, white papers and various educational activities specifically designed for teaching.

In addition, three new modules, offered exclusively, allow researchers and lecturers to personally discover the wide range of possibilities of 3D printing. If this system allows them to transfer their knowledge to others, it also allows universities to attract more students to lectures dedicated to 3D printing technologies.

The Freshman module is designed for institutions which aim at acquiring the basic principles of 3D printing in order to teach them in their own course of study. The Sintratec kit, a kit including a basic equipment for a powder-based 3D printing system, enables trainers to practice and teach the fundamentals of additive manufacturing from a technological and application point of view .

The Graduate module allows participants to start working immediately with 3D printing technology and follow a practical teaching. Partner universities/institutes benefit from the Sintratec S1 laser sintering system at advantageous conditions. Furthermore, at the end of their training, they receive an EOS Academia certificate. So, users become more familiar with the world of 3D printing and gain first-hand experience in additive manufacturing.

The “Scientist” module is intended for institutions wishing to exploit the numerous possibilities of 3D industrial printing for educational and research purposes. Participants have access to some EOS systems (both for metals and polymers) as well as several days of training on the EOS site. Through this program and an industrial 3D printing system, universities are able to exploit the full potential of this technology for research purposes.

Adrian Keppler, CEO and spokesperson for EOS GmbH, explains: “As a technology leader in this market, we are committed to preparing scientists and students for the professional requirements of tomorrow. This is why our Academia program is specifically aimed at universities and research institutes and offers them the best equipment.”
