French software editor Cognitive Design Systems (CDS) is enhancing its role in the Additive Manufacturing industry with a new funding announcement at Formnext this year which seeks to speed up the CDS platform development that started in 2021.

The company is recognised in the AM industry for its Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) software design and has been working on the CDS platform and expanding its footprint in Europe and the US for the last two years.

Now, they have secured a €2 million funding which will help them in hiring people and develop a product roadmap.

Cognitive Design Systems has already shown how cost-effective and sustainable production of 3D printed parts is possible with CDS-integrated generative design platforms like the low code engineering platform Synera and GrabCAD Print software platform of Stratasys.

The new funding from Iron Hands Capital, DAA Capital Partners and SpaceFounders France will extend the process by accelerating the development of CDS platforms which can be integrated into CAD platforms used by AM companies.

Florent Gastaud, Managing Partner at IRON HANDS CAPITAL said: “We are delighted to support CDS and its management team in the next stage of its growth story”.

While the Founding Partner at DAA Capital Partners, Bertrand Mueller, said: We believe that the automatization of engineering tasks and the prediction of the manufacturability and costs of any product designed in 3D is a global megatrend in the industry. CDS is uniquely positioned to benefit from this trend thanks to its state-of-the-art modeling technology”.

Thanking the investors and the supporters, CDS Co-founder Vincent Ung said: “the key to product development is to consistently include the manufacturing factors as part of design”.

The AM software solutions provider is showcasing its products at booth E72 Hall 12.0 at Formnext 2023.
