Sinterit has just extended the range of applications that can be achieved with SLS 3D printing by releasing a new polypropylene (PP) material for its compact SLS 3D printers.

With eight powders in the portfolio, the 3D printer manufacturer unveils a very unique powder material. So far, the TPE was mainly the only air and watertight material available in Sinterit’s portfolio, not to mention that it required a special sealer after printing, which is not the case with the new PP.

With a chemical-resistant that has low water absorption, the new PP powder delivers low density which enables the production of buoyant parts. Furthermore, it integrates a tensile strength of 19,3 MPa and elongation at a break of 44%. It is available in grey color in 6kg metal buckets.

As far as applications are concerned, the Polish company reveals that it is an ideal material candidate in the automotive industry. Be it for functional prototyping of the ducting in the air intake, fan shrouds and electronic housings, PP is pivotal when a prototype needs to work in water or another fluid environment, for example as a pump.

Plastic parts producers also rely on PP in the production of many commodity parts. According to the company, using the new PP powder along with Lisa or Lisa PRO SLS 3D printers will enable them for faster prototyping and short series production of final products.

Those applications are now available because of PP’s standard usage and its properties. Sinterit shows how important it is to have a versatile offer. And since the flagship powder, PA12 has the lowest refresh ratio on the market”, says Konrad Głowacki, Sinterit co-founder and Chief Business Development Officer.

The manufacturer ensures that the open parameters available for Lisa and Lisa PRO printers make it a unique offer especially for labs and research centers, which have no use of the printers working in a close environment.
