voxeljet AG adds Polypropylene (PP) and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) in its 3D Printing Materials Portfolio

voxeljet AG has launched today a number of specialty materials for its High-Speed Sintering line of 3D printers. It’s already been a year that the manufacturer integrated the High Speed Sintering process in its offering, so this announcement shows a very good advancement of its activities.

The materials Polypropylene (PP) and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)

Polypropylene is known for its versality and can be applied in almost all of the plastics end-use markets. The polymer can be used in the manufacturing of bumpers, cladding, and exterior trim. In addition to these automobile applications, the polymer can also serve in electronic and industrial applications, the fabrication of consumer products and household goods. It is one of the most competitive materials of the market.

Some of its advantages are that it enables low coefficient of linear thermal expansion and specific gravity, high chemical resistance and good weatherability. Furthermore, it provides processability and impact/stiffness balance.

TPU is another competitive material of the market. TPU technologies were even well featured at TCT Asia. As a reminder, the material is elastic and melt-processable and allows for the printing of ultra-flexible objects. Moreover, TPU can provide a great number of physical property combinations, making it the ideal candidate for dozens of uses such as construction, automotive and footwear. According to the company, “this versatility results from the unique structure of TPU and leads to high resilience, good compression set, plus resistance to impacts, abrasions, tears, weather, and even hydrocarbons.
