Helio Additive, a slicing software company that recently debuted on the market, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cubee, an e-commerce platform that leverages digital assets to locally manufacture on-demand, anywhere.
Together, they will overcome the volatility of global supply chains by addressing issues raised by local manufacturing – made possible via 3D printing. Based in Tel Aviv, Cubee runs a decentralized manufacturing grid of over 1500 Printshops around the world and enables 3D digital assets to be utilized by businesses and to be sold as physical, locally made, consumer products.
Helio Additive will bring its expertise in software to assess the printability of designs on Cubee’s platform. The software will also be able to recommend parameter changes to increase the probability of a successful print.
“There are many technological challenges along the journey of making 3D printing micro-factories a viable and reliable part of the global manufacturing ecosystem. Connecting Cubee’s manufacturing infrastructure, product catalogs and customization tech to the groundbreaking Helio Additive software is a huge step toward gaining quality control at scale – one of the biggest challenges for decentralized manufacturing – all while maintaining the one-of advantages of additive manufacturing,” says Uriah Medean, CEO of Cubee.
Once successfully implemented, Helio Additive’s software will make transactions on Cubee faster, more reliable, and ultimately more scalable. The transaction data derived from the joint project will in turn speed up Helio Additive’s development of its core physics-based technology, a press release reads.
“Making 3d-printing scalable will have a powerful impact on global manufacturing, and we’re excited to be at the heart of that transformation together with Cubee. Working with Cubee gives us a partner with a shared vision for how the future of manufacturing will look,” says David Hartmann, CEO of Helio Additive.
