COR Zero marks polySpectra’s entry into the consumer market.

polySpectra, a producer of photopolymer resins, launches COR Zero, a Cyclic Olefin Resin (COR) for resin 3D printing. With COR Zero, makers and small businesses could design durable parts that go into production and avoid costly injection molding.

COR Zero has unique high-impact strength, toughness, and thermal stability. It is printable and post-processible using simple & low-cost equipment such as a freezer, a microwave, and a resin 3D printer.

polySpectra reminds us that COR – Cyclic Olefin Resin – materials offer a suite of rugged capabilities unique to resin-based 3D printing. The latter has historically been plagued by brittleness and poor thermal stability, making its real-world end-user acceptance difficult.

With flagship products compatible with industrial and desktop DLP/LCD 3D printers, COR materials bring Additive Manufacturing to true production quality. Applications range from mechanical parts such as gears and impellers, fluidic components such as valves manifolds & electronics housings to wearables.

polySpectra has previously produced designs for some industrial titans. Since COR Zero is its first consumer product, it enables hobbyists, engineers, and startups to innovate from the workshop.

According to its polySpectra Founder & CEO, Raymond Weitekamp, “It took us more than a decade to develop a COR formulation that was safe and inexpensive enough for individuals to use in their workshop. We’re partnering with Kickstarter empowered by COR Zero is the person who would launch a Kickstarter for their innovative physical product idea. The chemistry behind COR Zero has been in development for many years, with direct input and validation from Fortune 500 customers, leading aerospace firms, and the US Department of Energy. We are excited to bring this powerful technology to the general public hoping to accelerate innovation in hardware and durable goods.”

Access to high-performance materials will be democratized via a Kickstarter campaign.
