Named MakerBot Cloud™, MakerBot’s cloud-powered 3D printing solution integrates a comprehensive range of 3D printing applications that facilitates preparation, management and printing processes on the manufacturer’s 3D Printers.

Web-based print preparation, CAD plugins, mobile apps are a few examples of these 3D Printing applications.

The manufacturer of Method has upgraded this version of its cloud-powered 3D Printing solution.

New upgrades

First, the solution is now integrated with several design software such as Solidworks, Autodesk Fusion 360, and Autodesk Inventor, which enables users to benefit from a streamlined and efficient 3D Printing workflow.

Users still have a variety of choice when it comes to CAD programs. After the design stage, they can send their print jobs through the MakerBot Cloud print preparation application to a MakerBot 3D Printer.

Furthermore, using MakerBot Cloud’s print preparation application, users can perform several tasks in order to ensure print readiness of the model: they can for instance scale, rotate, and arrange their models on the build plate or simply adjust its characteristics taking into account infill density, support density, and shell layering, for faster draft print or slower high surface quality print.

The cloud-powered 3D printing solution has also been integrated with Thingiverse, the well-known community of 3D printable models, creating a smooth user flow from file download to print preparation to print.

In a nutshell, the new upgrades include the print preparation interface which obviously results in a more user-friendly experience, the real-time view via the onboard camera of a MakerBot 3D Printer, the possibility to export MakerBot files for both online and offline 3D Printing and the movable purge tower (for MakerBot METHOD) and movable model for printer build volume optimization.
