Burgaflex, a specialist in producing tube, fitting and hose assemblies for the automotive industry, has recently decided to take a leap into 3D printing. They have been helped in this approach by Additive Center, Dutch independent advisory company.
In order to help them think out of the box, Additive Center showed the team, through various case studies, what was possible with 3D printing in the automotive industry.
The inspirational sessions led to the production of various 3D printed tools in both plastic and metal. After Additive Center redesigned two of Burgaflex existing products, the Burgaflex team realized how much it could change their production process.
As General Manager Burgaflex Jeroen van Nederkassel said: “We analyzed the potential impact of these case studies and concluded that they have the potential to enable the production of small series cost effectively. Next to this, it will help our customers to improve the performance of their hose assemblies and battery cooling systems while decreasing the complexity of the parts and its supply chain. We look forward to collaborating with our customers to validate the applications and set our customers up for success.”
Burgaflex is still at the beginning of its journey. Like Avi Reichental once told us, there’s never been a better time to be in Additive Manufacturing. Despite the challenges, the opportunities that arouse are worthy to explore and in this specific case, Additive Center will continue to support Burgaflex every step of the way.
