ValCUN, headquartered in Belgium, aims to establish metal Additive Manufacturing as a complementary process to conventional methods like milling, turning, and casting. As a reminder, ValCUN provides a molten metal deposition (MMD) described as “an analogy to FDM but with molten metals.”
To make this vision a reality in the Benelux region, the startup joins Brainport Industry Campus (BIC), the AMcubator whose ambition is to accelerate the use of AM in the region. To do so, the campus positions itself as a platform for scaling business applications with AM.
Located in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Brainport Industries Campus (BIC) has 1100m² space for an AMcubator. This provides 3D printing companies an opportunity to house their experts in an application center and their equipment in a pilot factory. AM-flow, Additive Center, Hexagon, KMWE, and AMsystems are some businesses that have joined AMcubator.
Maarten van Dijk, the initiator of AMcubator says “We house leading 3D printing companies in hardware, software, materials, validation, and automation. All together in one area. We are taking the role of facilitator between the participants to ensure a one-stop-shop for all industries looking to onboard 3D printing as a production technology. A company that wants to start with 3D printing, can find expertise, support, and test facilities to discover if 3D printing can answer their question and to look at how they can use 3D printing to scale.”
This process is initiated under the European Regional and Development Fund’s (ERDF) Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument, as a part of the “Optimization of Production by 3DP” project to shift manufacturing via Additive Manufacturing Innovation and discover the latest investments in the sector of technology suppliers and industrial producers.
Jonas Galle, co-founder and CEO of ValCUN, says, “ValCUN, AMcubator, and 3DOP share the same vision, and it is a real pleasure that we can combine forces to work towards the same goal. I look forward to expanding this concept together with the AMcubator partners amongst all 3DoP consortium members and beyond.”
The 3DOP Open Request is a chance to create a novel idea by getting unlimited access to the extensive services of the whole 3DOP environment and the resources, services, and solutions of 3DOP partners in a convenient location. It allows SMEs to test and evaluate creative ideas by granting them access to facilities, capabilities, and services produced by consortiums.
ValCUN will participate in technical workshops at Formnext 2024, Frankfurt on November 21st in hall 12.0, booth D09.
