Siemens and Materials Solutions  officially kick off new advanced innovation center in Orlando, Florida (US). The The 17,000 sq. ft. center combines design with manufacturing, while integrating robotics, rapid prototyping, scanning, digital tools and on-site metal additive manufacturing

The Siemens innovation center will focus on rapid problem solving supporting the company’s energy & aerospace businesses, while Materials Solutions will offer additive services to support the innovation center and external customers.

AM in the energy sectors opens huge opportunities for Siemens by revolutionizing the manufacturing and repair of components. A recent example has been given by the company in the February issue of 3D ADEPT Mag.

Furthermore, in their roadmap, both companies encourage the fostering of new ideas, methodologies and business models and boasts the latest automation tools such as robotic machines, 3D printer, and 3D scanners.

This center is unique, bringing together a multitude of our innovative processes under one roof,” said Tim Holt, COO of Siemens Gas and Power. “The combination of these competencies, with the 12 years of experience in metal additive that Materials Solutions brings, provides us with a distinctive capability to support the development of holistic additive solutions/services to our customers in our energy business, as well as in high-performance industries such as aerospace, automotive and others.”

Materials Solutions – a Siemens Business – specializes in the use of Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technology for the manufacture of high-performance metal parts, with a focus on high-temperature super alloys. As a reminder, the company has been acquired by Siemens in 2016. Since then, the business has expanded not only in the Worcester, England site, but also the global additive manufacturing network.
