Peter Weijmarshausen resigns as CEO while remaining on the Shapeways board. COO Tom Finn will temporarily act as CEO while the Shapeways board will look for a permanent replacement.
“I am proud of all we have accomplished during ten years at Shapeways and am excited about everything that I see on the horizon for the company,” said Peter Weijmarshausen. “This is an opportunity for me to step back and reflect on what we have accomplished, while considering my own next chapter. I look forward to Shapeways’ continued evolution and growth.“
After co-founding Shapeways in 2007 in the Netherlands, Peter Weijmarshausen is the driving force behind the success of many 3D printing factories in Europe as well as in the United States. He is acknowledged for allowing millions of people get access to 3D printing technology all over the world.
“I want to thank Peter for the decade he has spent building Shapeways. Pete has really pioneered consumer 3D printing and built Shapeways into the leading marketplace. He will continue to guide the future as a director of the company,” said Shapeways Director Albert Wenger.
This is a new phase for this giant of the 3D printing market. The next CEO will have to take up new challenges in order to maintain Shapeways’ lead on the market.
