Oerlikon and Farsoon Technologies will partner to enhance additive manufacturing (AM) in China. The long-term agreement consists in providing Oerlikon AM metal powders for Farsoon AM systems. Both companies want to increase the adoption of 3D printing in China by combining printer hardware and certified metal powders.

For those who do not know them, Oerlikon is an international supplier of 3D printing services whereas Farsoon Technologies provides industrial grade plastic laser sintering and metal laser melting systems.

This announcement follows the recently-announced partnership of Oerlikon with Boeing to create standard materials and processes for metal-based additive manufacturing.

The agreement between Oerlikon and Farsoon

As far as this agreement is concerned, the two companies will give their customers the possibility to purchase Farsoon AM systems on the one hand; on the other hand, to receive Oerlikon AM powders.

The truth is that Farsoon aims to create an open platform system for all metal 3D printing systems. The key industries that will benefit from this partnership are aerospace, power generation, tooling and automotive.

Speaking about this partnership, Dr. Xiaoshu Xu, founder of Farsoon stated, said:  “Partnering with Oerlikon as one of our preferred material suppliers can guarantee our customers a high level of material quality for their current and future applications.

Last, once more, this partnership proves that the metal additive manufacturing market is one of the key sectors that will develop the industry. As Reportlinker demonstrated it in its report, the market could be worth more than $4.7 billion by 2021.
