NatureWorks, a materials supplier has released a new print support for use in dual extrusion 3D printers. Named Ingeo 3D450, its mechanical breakaway enables to obtain parts with high finish quality, and reduces post-processing time.
The producer of Ingeo ™ PLA biopolymer keeps improving the manufacturing possibilities of the material. The Ingeo 3D450 for instance can achieve applications such as jigs and fixtures, patterns for investment metal casting, and architectural and retail models.
Several manufacturers including MatterHackers, Voodoo Mfg, Slant 3D and Titan Robotics have already tested the new material.
MatterHackers for instance said: “MatterHackers PRO Series Breakaway Support, using Ingeo 3D450, works well offering clean printed surfaces and clean breakaway material. It is more convenient than other, dissolvable, support offerings. There was no residue on the hot-end, and we found no filament or printing issues.”
