UltiMaker has introduced its latest 3D printer – The ‘MakerBot Sketch Sprint’ which focuses on assisting educators and students in learning and collaborating in the classroom.
The MakerBot Sketch Sprint 3D printer provides 5x faster print speeds than regular desktop 3D printers, enabling educators to enhance class duration. Facilitating seamless transitions from design to printing, students can engage in hands-on class projects.
According to UltiMaker, the heated build plate, mesh leveling, and vibration compensation enable the printer to deliver more detailed and precise prints.
The 3D printer is available on UltiMaker Digital Factory, a turnkey 3D print management solution allowing teachers to connect and manage multiple printers, streamline print jobs, and organize student submissions from different devices.
Thanks to the recently launched Cura Cloud feature on Digital Factory, users can now use slicing capabilities on the platform; and rely on a smooth process to go from CAD to part. All the Sketch series printers are compatible with Cura Desktop v5.9 which has advanced slicing ability.
These printers underwent stringent testing protocols and are certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a test laboratory and expert in applied safety science. Sketch Sprint has been independently verified to attain the safety levels of the UL 2904 standards for particle and chemical emissions from 3D printers.
It has an enclosed structure, integrated with an active HEPA + carbon filtration system, and safety precautions, including a digital PIN to restrict unauthorized access. With classroom-friendly PLA and Tough PLA filaments, the printer promotes a secure learning environment for students.
The Marketing Education Manager from UltiMaker, Andrea Zermeño suggests “For more than 10 years, we have been dedicated to working closely with educators to create tools and resources necessary to use 3D printing with their students. Our commitment has fostered exciting and fun learning experiences that ignite creativity, improve critical thinking skills, and empower students with confidence in the classroom and their careers.”
Along with Sketch Sprint, UltiMaker provides extensive resources to assist educators and students. This includes over 600 lesson plans, project concepts, ISTE-based training programs, curriculum development, design thinking streams, financing guides, tutorials, educational webinars, and a supportive community for professional development. Sketch Sprint is expected to begin shipping in November 2024.
