AM companies Headmade Materials & DyeMansion have been selected for the EU Commission’s EIC Accelerator programme – which provides financial resources to Europe’s most innovative companies.
The programme reveals that Headmade Materials is one of the 99 out of 1,109 applicant startups that have a strategic relevance for the European economic system and can define industries with their innovative power. The developer of the Cold Metal Fusion 3D printing process will therefore receive up to EUR 5.85 million.
As a reminder, Headmade’s technology enables the series production of complex metal parts in larger quantities, even over 100,000 parts. The company has already shared a few applications of what’s possible to achieve with this process. Remember these 3D printed titanium parts made for Sturdy Cycles.
The design freedom within 3D printing also allows advantages over conventional manufacturing processes (milling, casting), as these are limited in the possible part complexity and often also material selection, the company explains.
“We are very proud to have been selected for the EIC Accelerator programme and to have prevailed over 1,000 other companies” says Christian Staudigel, CEO and Co-Founder of Headmade Materials. “This not only underlines the relevance of 3D printing for industries in Europe, but also that we are on the right track with our ColdMetalFusion technology. At the same time, however, we also see this nomination as an obligation to make our technology available, also internationally, to as many users as possible and as quickly as possible.”
DyeMansion on the other hand receives funding from both the European Innovation Council (€ 4 million) and the European Investment Bank (€ 11 million). This brings the company’s total financing to $ 43 million since its founding. Existing investors already include AM Ventures, btov Industrial Technologies Fund, UVC Partners, KGAL, Nordic Alpha Partners and the OMS-Invest GmbH.
With these new financial resources, the expert in post-processing solutions ambitions to accelerate the era of digital manufacturing where 3D-printed products become part of our everyday life.
Already in 2020 the EIC has selected DyeMansion with their Powerfuse S to be part of the first “Green Deal” call within the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program. With the successful rollout of the green & industrial vapor polishing system for sealed surfaces, DyeMansion supports the aim of the EU promoting the efficient use of resources by moving to a clean, circular economy. Now the EIC Fund supports this unification of economic sustainability and digital manufacturing again.
The company is ready to continue this journey with Felix Reinshagen and Peter Nietzer as new members of its advisory board.
“The financial support of the EU as well as the additional expertise on the board will help DyeMansion continue to lead the transformation of the 3D-printing industry at the forefront. Combined with the momentum in the fourth quarter of 2021 and the continued support of our existing investors, we are now well positioned to continue to energetically develop relevant, highly industrial technologies that help our customers produce 3D-printed products with superior quality“, says Felix Ewald, CEO & Co-Founder of DyeMansion, right after a record-breaking Q4 in 2021, when the company sold over 100 machines.
