Not many companies can pride themselves of having a successful 2020. Spanish 3D printer manufacturer BCN3D on the other hand, can. While the first quarter of the year rang alarm bells for several companies due to the pandemic, a quick recap today revealed that things turned out pretty great for the team behind the Sigma portfolio of 3D printers.
Although every small gesture should be a moment of celebration, 5 key points have really helped the company close 2020 with a certain pride.
1. The fund-raising of €2.8 million
The second semester saw the machine manufacturer secure €2.8 million in funding round. The willingness to enhance its FDM 3D Printing technology, to develop new materials in collaboration with BASF Forward AM and Mitsubishi Chemical, and to cover the majority of technical applications really triggered the need for this fund-raising round.
2. The new portfolio of 3D printers
A few months later, in September, the company was making a real splash in the industry with the launch of its next-Generation 3D Printers: Epsilon W27, Smart Cabinet, and Sigma D25 – expanding this way the array of applications its technology can achieve to the R&D field, education, prototyping and industries.
3. The expansion of its distribution network
A manufacturer without a solid distribution network will likely be short-lived. BCN3D is well aware of that as it keeps expanding its number of sales partners. To date the Spanish brand is present in over 60 countries and has closed 2020 with the appointment of 11 distributors:
- 3DGBIRE (UK and Ireland)
- Crea3D (Italy and Malta)
- Distrinova (The Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg)
- Yuchu 3D (China)
- Parametric Designs and Solutions (India)
- Systematics (Israel)
- iGo3D Russia
- Norde Intern (Phillippines)
- Printhoek 3D (Namibia)
- 3D Print (Tunisia)
- 3D Mart (Taiwan and Hong Kong)
4&5. A growing team in-house & new HQ
To support this expansion, 70 new talents joined the existing team during 2020. The number of employees has now doubled and reaches 150, a number that requires more space to continue their development, hence the relocation of the company to new facilities near Barcelona city.
While we can’t wait to discover these new HQ by ourselves, we can’t help but think that these 5 points already announce a promising 2021 for the BCN3D team.
“2020 was an exciting year for BCN3D as we continued to capitalize on our market opportunities and successfully executed our aggressive growth objectives. I look forward to our business growth in the additive manufacturing market continuing to accelerate in 2021”, says BCN3D CEO, Xavier Martínez Faneca.
