The Portuguese-based firm Filkemp has marketed a new line of PLA filaments for 3D printing. This launch reflects Filkemp’s commitment to sustainability and efforts in all its processes to reduce CO2 emissions. Since 2017, the company has greatly diminished its carbon footprint through the adoption of energy from renewable sources.

One concrete step toward this aim was changing suppliers from a distance of 5,200 km away raw materials from the Portuguese vendor to be located much closer and thus significantly reduce emissions.

Filkemp’s target is to achieve net zero emissions by 2030, and the new PLA filament line directly results from its commitment to non-harmful production. The company has also focused more on environmentally friendly & sustainable 3D printing packages, using as much as 95% recycled materials for packaging with certified spools as proof of the holistic effort toward reducing environmental impact.

Designed for the eco-friendly consumer, these filaments fill the need for optimum quality as a responsible option for makers by promoting renewable energy management.
