Since June 2020, the British aluminium alloy powder producer for additive manufacturing, Aluminium Materials Technologies Ltd. (“AMT”), is owned by the ECKART Group. The Group is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of effect pigments and is part of the ALTANA AG group.
AMT’s full integration has been completed a few months ago, in September 2021, and since then, ECKART has been supplying the full range of AMT products, notably the established A20X powder for Additive Manufacturing and A205 alloy for foundries. At formnext, we caught up with Dr. Ulrich Schmidt, Global Head of Functional Applications at Eckart GmbH to discuss the use of aluminium alloys in the AM industry and the utilization of the A20X powder.
