This is the first time CERATIZIT and PLANSEE, part of the Austrian Plansee Group, will jointly show Additive Manufacturing solutions that include refractory metals such as molybdenum, tungsten, and cemented carbide at Formnext in Frankfurt

The new solutions provide optimal opportunities for benefiting from unique properties in 3D printing & the 2 companies are well-prepared for what these advanced solutions offer their customers.

Global molybdenum and tungsten product expert PLANSEE claims to be the only company that can produce 3D printed components in molybdenum on comparably equal footing with traditional TZM (Titanium-Zirconium-Molybdenum) products.

CERATIZIT further expands its product offering by introducing 3D printing for all conventional cemented carbide grades. This includes their upGRADE range of sustainable grades made from 50-99% reclaimed carbide powder to high-performance capabilities, and lower environmental impact.

Both companies share the same vision for sustainability. CERATIZIT and PLANSEE, for example, already reached a recycling rate of 90% of the tungsten back in 2023 – that is, they have strongly reduced their dependency on raw materials and are looking to improve matters through continuous process innovation. Their 3D printing processes have been fueled using 100% recycled residues and renewable energy.

Dr. Bernhard Mayr-Schmölzer, Head of Additive and Joining Technologies at PLANSEE says, “We are thrilled to showcase our joint capabilities at Formnext. By combining our expertise in Additive Manufacturing and our extensive range of materials, we can offer our customers innovative environmentally friendly & high-performing solutions.”
