A month ago, Triditive presented SCALADD at the “industrial scale AM forum”. SCALADD is an additive manufacturing center of excellence where different industrial companies can benefit from the advantages of additive manufacturing provided by TRIDITIVE through AMCELL.
The Asturias-based company signed its first partnership with Oviedo University and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University to promote and accelerate Research and training through the center. The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is a Spanish public university that welcomes over 23,000 students.
What does SCALADD bring to the industry?
Through this center, industrial companies will benefit not only from the capacities of metals and polymers & technology, but also from the services provided by the different partners of the Consortium.
As far as the partnership with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is concerned, it will give experts further knowledge in design and optimization by genetic algorithm of AM parts. A knowledge that requires specific training in the processability and characterization of polymers. Until now, the research group has acquired a certain expertise on the manufacturing processes of plastic parts made by SLS and FDM.
For Mariel Díaz Castro, CEO at TRIDITIVE, [they] “share a common goal, [the one of implementing] new training methods that may be implemented by Universities, but also provide the manufacturing industry with new professionals with skills in AM.”
It makes no doubt that research and training are the best way to give professionals of tomorrow the necessary skills to evolve in the AM industry and to build the future. Such type of partnership certainly enables this and provides an opportunity to change people’s mind regarding the adoption of AM in Spain.
