Both companies anticipate this project may lead to adoption in the consumer goods industry and across various sectors of glass manufacturing.

On the heels of its partnership with Rousselot, 3D printer manufacturer xolo embarks on a new collaboration with Swarovski to develop Xolography-based crystal glass manufacturing.

Acknowledged for its premium jewels, Swarovski is an Austrian company that designs, manufactures, and sells fine crystals. It creates diamonds and zirconia, accessories, as well as home décor and crystals for the automotive sector.

This collaboration that marks Swarovski’s first steps into 3D printing aims to directly print crystal glass, “setting new standards in precision and speed for customized crystal manufacturing.”  A key focus will be made on the material’s role in modern design and functionality.

As a reminder, xolo’s volumetric printing technology, Xolography, allows for the creation of intricate glass components with clarity and detail.

The project has been co-developed with the group of Professor Paolo Colombo from the University of Padova. Prof. Colombo and Swarovski recognized the potential of Xolography early on in their open innovation program and Prof. Colombo has leveraged the technology in various ways. According to xolo, his expertise and work provide invaluable insights that will greatly enhance the scope and impact of this collaboration.
