Prototyping 2017: German RepRap stands out with 3D printer X400 v4

German RepRap attracts admiring glances at Prototyping 2017 thanks to its recent innovation: the X400 v4. Unveiled less than a month ago, the machine firstly attracts by its size.

Equipped with FFF (Fused Filament Fabrication) technology, German RepRap unveils a 350 x 400 x 310 mm (15.4 x 15.7 x 12.2 in) 3D printer. The 3D printer has an ideal build platform for additive production of large and small series.

Although needs vary from one use to another, notice is to be made that this machine offers a print speed of 10 – 200 mm / s, which is more interesting than the former model X400 V3.

As far as materials are concerned, the German manufacturer’s 3D printer can be used with a wide range of materials whose choice depends on the application sector, the size or even the indicated geometry.

New features

For perfectionists, it is possible to use a filament tracking system. In addition, to ensure the reliability of the printing process, the 3D printer has a new ventilation concept.

In which sector (s) is it most used?

The X400 v4 3D printer is much more indicated in the automotive and aerospace industries. According to François-Xavier Walleit, German RepRap’s Manager Key Accounts & Channel Europe, what distinguishes the X400 v4 from others is its high running stability. It is “precise and reliable”, he adds, essential qualities to realize good prototypes in these sectors.
