This year, tech and electronics company Nikon has opened a research, development, and service center in Gyoda, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

On a total area of 922 m², the Nikon AM Technology Center Japan (NAMTC Japan) provides customers and interested parties with services that help meet the stringent requirements of demanding industries.

Equipped with the NXG XII 600, the center will rely on an SFM-AT1000-S from Solukon for its automated depowderign tasks.

Designed for large and heavy components weighing up to 800 kg, the automated depowdering system features a short swivel arm that improves the component’s center of gravity. It was developed specifically for industrial 3D printers such as the NXG XII 600 large-format printer, which can build parts with maximum dimensions of 600 × 600 × 600 mm.

It also integrates seamlessly into NAMTC Japan’s digital setup: The system is equipped with the Digital-Factory-Tool, a sensor and interface kit. It records all relevant data on the cleaning process and thus ensures maximum transparency. This data can be integrated into the higher-level digital dashboard of the printer landscape via OPC UA.

Our aim is to offer our customers and interested parties the highest quality equipment in the NAMTC Japan. Solukon systems stand for the highest quality and reliability, so it is only logical that we chose a Solukon system for automated postprocessing,” says Hiroyuki Nagasaka, Assistant General Manager Advanced Manufacturing Business Unit at Nikon.
