LPW Technology released ‘Apparent Density Testing for Metal Powders’

Apparent density testing by LPW

LPW Technology, specialized in development, manufacture and processing of high quality metal powders and solutions for additive manufacturing (AM) has unveiled its laboratory service datasheet: “Apparent Density Testing for Metal Powders”.

The apparent density measurement is a quick, cost-effective, standardised method of characterising the volume occupied by a given mass of metal powder,” says Lisa Holman, LPW’s Quality Engineer.

The datasheet can offer a helpful measure of powder consistency for comparison and assurance. LPW Technology’s specialists conduct the test themselves in the company’s laboratory but they also include the equipment in the LPW PowderFlow kit, allowing Hall and Carney flow testing, apparent and tap density test and angle of repose to be performed in the end-user’s own facility.

2017 has been marked by a number of partnerships, an AM metal powder, the opening of a new facility, and other advancements in metal AM technology on the company’s side.

Today, with the company’s PowderLab, users can get access to a suite of tests for enhanced characterisation of powders, fully optimised for specific applications; tests AM components in validation studies; and conducts root cause analysis of failed builds.

The datasheet is available for free download from the Brochures page of the LPW website.
