OEM 3D printer manufacturer Eplus3D has introduced the EP-M400S, a metal 3D printer based on Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion (PBF-LB). The machine would be an improved version of EP-M400, one of the mid-size systems of Eplus3D.
The key improvements of the new EP-M400S include a laser configuration and the adoption of a powder hopper and bi-directional powder re-coating.
As far as laser configurations are concerned, the machine comes with options for up to 4 lasers with multiple power levels (500W, 700W, and 1KW for each laser), that users can fine-tune to meet the specific demands of diverse applications. The manufacturer also combines recoating speed and laser assignment strategy, to allow for application-specific optimization in the running of the print jobs.
Thanks to the integration of a top-feeding powder hopper and bi-directional powder re-coating, one can reduce dosing time by up to 30%. This approach significantly streamlines the metal powder layering process, leading to substantial time savings, making the EP-M400S a more efficient system and close-loop powder circulation, Eplus3D says.
The industrial 3D printer is also compatible with other accessories from the manufacturer: the ultrasonic sieving machine EP-MS600 and the automated powder feeding system EP-MF400. According to Eplus3D, the powder tank can be refilled without interrupting the printing process, saving valuable time, and preserving powder conditions within an inert atmosphere.
With the design change, the EP-M400S undergoes a size reduction of 10% from its previous specification. With the new features, the 3D printer provides easier access to cleaning and maintenance locations on the machine, not only improving the functionality but also the serviceability of the machine.
Retaining the layer thickness and material compatibility of its predecessor, the EP-M400S finds applications across diverse industries, including Aerospace, Automotive, Molding, and Medical Implants. Its adaptability positions it as an all-encompassing metal 3D printing solution, enriching its value and utility, the company says.
