At the heart of Elementum 3D and SLM Solutions’ new collaboration is “modern additive manufacturing”, a concept that allows users “to push and expand what’s possible”.

Although SLM Solutions already provides standard powders together with its industrial AM machines, it should be noted that Elementum 3D is acknowledged for the production of advanced metals, ceramics, and composites. The ISO 9001:2015-certified producer that has recently received patents for its Reactive Additive Manufacturing technology, has joined forces with SLM Solutions to enable customers to unlock an extension of the machine manufacturer’s current powder portfolio and discover a new tier of material properties.

“It’s imperative to provide every manufacturer with the option to adopt the disruptive power of additive manufacturing and having the right materials available that will meet their specific needs is the first step,” said Dr. Jacob Nuechterlein, president and founder of Elementum 3D. 

Due to the limited diversity of metal materials, especially aluminum, demanding industries such as aerospace, space, automotive, and defense are quite limited when it comes to exploring metal AM as a viable option to advance application innovation.

Recently, Elementum 3D installed an SLM®280 system to test and define new powder development. While new material development and specific parameter sets are around the corner, SLM Solutions cannot help but enthuse about the importance of having such a material producer as a partner.
