Described as a first-to-market, 3D Systems’ new solution for jetted, monolithic (one-piece) dentures utilizes multiple materials to deliver a “durable, long-wear, aesthetically beautiful prosthetic” to the patient.
Thanks to a formulation of tailor-made materials for both teeth and gums, the new denture solution would deliver wear- and stain-resistance in the teeth, with exceptional break resistance (toughness and strength) in the gums.
3D Systems’ experts explain that NextDent® Jet Denture Teeth is formulated to mimic tooth rigidity and aesthetics while NextDent® Jet Denture Base helps to absorb impact. When these materials are used as part of the company’s monolithic jetted denture solution, dentures resulting from this combination are more performant & strong.
Needless to say, for more accurate results and to ensure production speeds, the company recommends the prosthodontist using this solution with its jetted 3D printing technology and related equipment.
Glidewell, one of the largest producers of restorative dental devices, will integrate this new denture solution as part of its production workflow this year. Stephenie Goddard, CEO, Glidewell, confirms that “the combination of 3D Systems’ high-speed printing technology and its unique materials deliver dentures with superior durability and aesthetics.”
3D Systems anticipates 510(k) clearance from the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) for its solution in the second half of 2024. Meanwhile, if the adoption of 3D printing to produce prosthodontics continues to accelerate, 3D Systems is likely to earn a few more market shares thanks to this new solution.
