3D printer manufacturer Axtra3D announced the immediate availability of two new functional materials Figure 4® PRO-BLK 10 and Figure 4® MED-WHT 10 that enable new applications with its Lumia X1 Hi-Speed SLA system. Both materials are part of the well-established Figure 4® range from OEM 3D Systems with unique properties for various applications.

Figure PRO-BLK 10: A rigid, black, production-grade material with thermoplastic-like mechanical properties and long-term environmental stability. It is suitable for high-speed production and post-processing efficiency in applications like automotive interiors, motor housings, connectors, and snap-fits.

The mechanical properties are such that tool-less, same-day production is possible, offering a valid alternative to injection molding, with 12% elongation at break and a heat deflection temperature of 70°C.

The second one of the functional materials is Figure MED-WHT 10, a white, biocompatible, high-temperature-resistant material that shows great suitability for application in medical areas. It provides biocompatibility according to ISO 10993-5 and -10. Besides, it is possible to sterilize by autoclave, which makes it perfect for pre-surgical/surgical guides and models of bone fractures

Resistance to high temperature and water makes this material apt and versatile for a wide number of uses both in healthcare and other areas.

Rajeev Kulkarni, Chief Strategy Officer for Axtra3D, said, “Partnerships with companies like 3D Systems are crucial in developing a robust material ecosystem to support both our Axtra Solutions™ and Axtra OpenAccess™ business models.”

These new materials will allow Axtra3D’s Lumia X1 to address even more applications in the industrial and healthcare markets.
