Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund invested an undisclosed amount in 14Trees with some of its earlier investors including British International Investment (BII) and Holcim. Also, BII is the United Kingdom’s development financial institution and a major impact investor.
Amazon’s inclusion in the latest Series A-1 investment along with Holcim highlights the importance of 14Trees in construction 3D printing to improve the overall performance and profitability of project creators, business owners, and asset managers.
These investments can scale the construction sector by enhancing low-carbon data centers with massive buildings and usage in Europe, and the USA markets. 14Trees is preparing to offer proprietary 3D printing technology, such as printers, software, and sustainable ink substances, to the U.S. and European regions that account for pilot projects with firms like Holcim and Amazon. As a reminder, the company unveiled its construction 3D printer in 2023.
“We are excited to welcome Amazon as an investor and are delighted by Holcim’s follow-on investment and continued support. This marks a key milestone, the conviction of 14 Trees’ concept for delivering 3D-printed homes, schools, and commercial real estate. We aim to work with leaders in innovation, technology, and sustainability, such as Amazon, Holcim, and BII, to deliver low-carbon and high-performance buildings with our 3D printing technology,” explains the MD at 14Trees, Francois Perrot.
The Investment Partner at Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund – Phoebe Wang reveals “We are delighted to invest in 14Trees, a tech-enabled business scaling an innovative technology from Africa to the world. 14Trees will collaborate with Amazon to enhance our strategic objective in adding new sustainable materials and methods for low-carbon building.”
Alfonso Paradinas Aguilera, Holcim’s CMO says, “14Trees’ pioneering 3D printing technology has consistently pushed the boundaries of smart design to build better with less. With Holcim as a joint venture partner in 14Trees, we are pleased to be adding to our existing investment alongside Amazon so we can continue to power the world’s AI infrastructure with the most innovative techniques for data center construction.”
14Trees is a joint venture between Holcim and BII that started in 2016. Meanwhile, their main focus is to speed up the availability of construction solutions in the African region.
