Tooling U-SME, provider of manufacturing training solutions, and UL, a global safety science company, are collaborating together to implement training and certification programs. Both partners want to create a single source for professional additive manufacturing certification.
A Letter of Intent signed in December 2017 by both companies show their will to increase the capabilities of manufacturers in AM.
This announcement follows the pilot of the Additive Manufacturing Fundamentals Certification program at the Additive Manufacturing Users Group Conference and RAPID + TCT – two 3D printing events that took place earlier this year. UL delivered the certification preparation class and Tooling U-SME provided the certification examination as part of the pilot offerings.
Tooling U-SME and UL are not the first ones on the market to provide such type of certification. MIT and Boeing currently collaborate together to enable professionals to improve and develop their skills in AM. The only thing is that their collaboration aims at increasing AM production in the aerospace industry.
Tooling U-SME and UL on their side, will very soon establish a formal Certification Oversight body to advise on the development and ongoing evolution of the Additive Manufacturing Certification program. #StayTuned
