VALIMET, Inc. is now an AS9100-certified manufacturer of aluminum alloy powders.
AS9100 is the internationally recognized Quality Management System standard for the Aviation, Space, and Defense industries. Over the years, we have seen material manufacturers, contract manufacturers and OEMs get AS9100-certified to demonstrate process rigor. They also seek to qualify for strategic aerospace programs and meet the stringent supplier requirements of primes and Tier‑1s.
The German-owned, US-based manufacturer of spherical atomized metal powders focuses on aluminum and aluminum alloys. After atomization via inert gas for spherical morphology, VALIMET sizes its aluminum powders to eliminate fines and enhance flowability. It also tailors particle size distributions to maximize density, improve mechanical properties and optimize printing performance. They do so while meeting stringent OEM specifications.
VALIMET specifies a 15–53 µm range (−53/+15 µm in sieve notation) for its cold-spray powders. Its C-grade powders for laser powder bed fusion have a coarser 20–63 µm distribution.
This push for higher qualification standards has placed renewed emphasis on powder producers. Their process stability, particle‑size control, and documentation practices directly influence part quality and downstream certification.
Achieving this certification required a coordinated effort across the entire Organization. VALIMET now produces its Aluminum Alloy Powders under Quality Management Systems certified to both ISO 9001 and AS9100. These powders serve Energetics, Propellants, Additive Manufacturing, and Thermal Interface Materials.
