Thermwood will be printing LIVE on an LSAM Additive Printer 510

Thermwood, one of the three companies providing very large format 3D printing hardware and services with composite chopped Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FPR) pellet materials, will be exhibiting at Rapid + TCT 2022, Booth #2213

The company that recently revealed first results of its partnership with Composites Manufacturing Simulation Center (CMSC) will be printing live Techmer PM PETG on an LSAM Additive Printer 510.

The Techmer PM PETG material has been modified for use in composite tooling for large-format additive manufacturing. The LSAM Additive Printer on the other hand, features a single fixed gantry, 5’x10’ moving table, 4’ maximum print height and a maximum print temperature of 450°, the manufacturer recalls. It is a more affordable option to the company’s larger flagship systems.

We have already had the opportunity to see parts produced with this 3D printer. Those parts include an Air Foil tool made from Sabic ULTEM (20% Carbon Fiber filled) and a half-trimmed part. Seeing the 3D printer perform live will be an interesting opportunity to assess the capabilities of the machine and ask questions if required.

Alongside this demonstration, LSAM Research Laboratory at Purdue’s ADDITIVE3D Software will also be on display, with Purdue representatives on site for other demonstrations.
