Exactly one month ago, 3D printing service provider Shapeways officially filed for bankruptcy – an announcement that didn’t surprise when we looked at all the problems the company had to deal with during the past years.

Surprisingly, the company’s European division that operates in Eindhoven has been saved from bankruptcy.  The company will now operate under the name “Manuevo” – the company behind its acquisition. The acquisition team is made up of the former Eindhoven Shapeways team and the two co-founders.

Like before, we offer a full suite of solutions: from design and engineering, prototyping, and bridge-manufacturing to mass production. We operate on the principles of ISO9001, ISO14001, and IATF16949, providing a wide range of value-added and white-label services. Building on our previous success, we are excited to partner with our global customers, deliver the service they deserve and expand the range of services we offer. We operate from The Netherlands today, but rest assured our US, UK and EU clients will receive their orders without incurring import duties”, Manuevo said on LinkedIn.

Manuevo would employ about 30 employees and customers can expect to receive a range of AM services with technologies such as selective laser sintering, HP’s Multi Jet Fusion, binder jetting, stereolithography, multi-jet printing, DLP and direct metal laser sintering.

You can place orders via email as usual and re-establish your APIs. Soon, our self-serve option will be up and running again,” the company says.

While the American parent company is still bankrupt, the official relaunch of Shapeways gives hope for a better future – hopefully marked by a team with new ethical and management  perspective.
