The renovated BOSS store at İstinye Park in Istanbul sports a striking 3D printed façade. This circular storefront has a façade made with 3D printed waste materials and has been creatively designed by Ippolito Fleitz Group and 3D printed by Aectual.

Aectual built up expertise in recycled bioplastic, waste streams, and plant-based materials for a circular material loop of online furniture and finishes. Harnessing Aectual’s radical cycling technology, material use can be reduced considerably as their products can be taken and shredded back into new material.

Its global network of recycling partners and XL 3D printers facilitate each 3D printing project. The Ippolito Fleitz Group collaborated with the development team at Aectual using its Gradient panel series to design this unique storefront.

The core idea was to craft an open, graphic skin for the building, serving as a large sunshade. Inspired by intricate textile designs, the BOSS garments façade is evocative of its delicate wefts and warps. The 3D printed façade comprises 136 unique prints that span 73 square meters.

The design process began with Aectual’s Gradient panel series. This series is the foundation for a custom pattern designed by the Ippolito Fleitz Group, inspired by intricate textile designs. Following the approval of the concept, several 3D-printed mockups were produced by Aectual to ensure the final panels met all design specifications.

It is eye-catching and is reflective of the impeccable style associated with BOSS. Aectual has crafted the façade panels from recycled post-industrial polypropylene by exploring material innovation.

The company has considerable expertise in fashioning unique circular facades. Aectual’s expertise in 3D printed architecture has been on display at the Tiffany & Co. storefront at Changi Airport and the Signify bar at Milan Design Week.

They highlighted the company’s expertise in circular architecture by recycling tetrapak and ocean waste. This façade of the BOSS store highlights how a brand can create a distinctive identity.

It also reiterates the BOSS brand’s commitment to eco-friendly design by using a face that can be reused in future applications. Aectual will later shred and reprint new products after this printed paneling has served its purpose.
