3D printing materials provider SUNLU 3D introduces a Reusable Spool to reduce plastic waste. The announcement follows the recent launch of a device for drying and annealing engineering filaments.

Unlike traditional disposable spools, this version is the 3rd generation of reusable spools designed by the material producer. It is built for long-term use, allowing makers to refill and reuse it instead of discarding empty spools. Its durable construction lowers environmental impact and provides a cost-effective solution for 3D printing users.

Beyond sustainability, the SUNLU Reusable Spool is engineered for high-temperature resistance for the filaments PA6, PA12 CF, PC, ABS and Easy PA,  making it suitable for filament drying and storage. Its porous design enhances airflow for better drying performance, while clear usage instructions and built-in labeling areas help users organize and track their materials with ease. Additionally, the detachable structure, integrated cable tie system, and built-in weight scale make filament swaps effortless and allow for precise tracking of material usage. Designed for versatility, the spool is compatible with a wide range of filaments and seamlessly integrates with SUNLU’s filament dryer, making it a practical choice for all 3D printing setups.

Unlike cardboard spools, which absorb moisture and become deformed, SUNLU’s reusable spool maintains its shape and integrity over time. Cardboard options also suffer from high friction, which can cause feeding issues in AMS systems, and their low-strength adhesive construction makes them prone to damage during transport. SUNLU’s spool eliminates these issues with a sturdy, durable design, offering a reliable and sustainable solution for 3D printing enthusiasts.

With its detachable, high-temperature-resistant design, the new SUNLU Reusable Spool is also compatible with filament dryers, ensuring print quality is maintained even with moisture-sensitive materials.
