For a purchase price of $120 million, Proto Labs, recently acquired Rapid Manufacturing Group, which it rebrands ‘Rapid, a Proto Labs Company‘.
The New Hampshire-based supplier specializes in quick-turn sheet metal fabrication and CNC machining. Now Proto Labs has the opportunity to extend its range of services in this area.
This expansion of Proto Labs services enables the company to keep its promise to customers which consist in continuing to seek ways to further optimize product development and improve supply chain efficiencies through a variety of digital manufacturing methods.
The supplier of rapid manufacturing of low-volume 3-D printed, CNC-machined and injection-molded custom parts for prototyping and short-run production currently employs approximately 300 people, and will expand Proto Labs’ team to more than 2,000 employees worldwide.
Since December 1st, RAPID has started operating under the name “Rapid, a Proto Labs Company.” As time will go by, it will transition to operating solely under the Proto Labs brand.
