3D printed infrastructures continue to gain momentum across the world and the latest that raise our attention is a 3D printed parkour playground within the metropolis of Prague. This playground is the second initiative we cover in the region after the 3D printed floating house project.
This time, construction company Stavební spořitelna Česká spořitelna (Buřinka) will lead the project supported by other organizations in the private, research, and public spheres. The project comes at a time when the construction industry in the country encounters several challenges due to a shortage of workers, insufficient automation, and fast-rising prices of building materials, which can be addressed via construction 3D printing.
“There are many playgrounds for preschoolers, but older children don´t have many options, so we decided to use innovative 3D printing technology to create a parkour playground. At the same time, we want to confirm the benefits of using recycled concrete, so-called rebetong. It is another milestone in the use of this innovative technology,” explains Libor Vošický, Chairman of the Board of Directors of construction company Stavební spořitelna Česká spořitelna.
Practical details reveal that the parkour playground will be 14×12 m in size. While no information has been given about the robotics and 3D printing technology that will be used for this project, we do know that cast rubber is used as the impact area. Furthermore, recycled concrete rebetong, developed by Skanska, will serve for the foundations of the playground. Work4out will handle earthworks, certification, and completion of the playground.
The playground will open at the end of September in Prague 11. “We are pleased to be able to provide land for this innovative sports project, which is also a suitable addition to our new leisure area at Kupecký Elementary School. The parkour playground is a great variant of the available sport for older children and adults,” explains Jan Stárek, Councilor for Sport, Culture, and Leisure of Prague 11. Source: Prague Morning.
