Tech tool manufacturer nScrypt has been granteda new multi-material mixing valve patent which can be used by AM companies to control the feeding, mixing, and dispensing of 3D printing materials through a pentip.

Known as the 054 patent for “Active Valve for Mixing and Dispensing Control”, it can be used for making 3D printed medical devices  as per the inventor of the valve Dr. Ken Church, the CEO of nScrypt.

Dr. Ken Church said: “Beyond its capability to expertly blend an extensive array of materials it introduces unparalleled ease and precision during the 3D printing process.  By eliminating the need for interruptions to swap materials or relocate printed structures between heated beds, even when dealing with varied heating requirements, it ensures a seamless workflow. The valve prints with very clean starts and stops, with no drooling of the mixed material. This level of precision proves indispensable for intricate applications, providing a significant leap forward in fine-feature and high-resolutions prints”.

The new multi-material mixing valve can mix and dispense materials of different viscosities in real time with clean starts and stops. This includes particle loaded materials. The patented valve can print AM parts in two or three modes.

The nScrypt patent can be licensed by AM companies for commercial use as Dr. Church said that they want to see better 3D printed electronic devices in the market without patents getting in the way.
