Initial exhibits its 3D printed statue during the Révélations show

The “Creations” of Initial, a branch specialized in 3D printing of the Prodways Group, unveils a 3D printed statue of Stéphane Simon during the Révélations show (from May 4th to 8th 2017 at the Grand Palais in Paris.

The work of this plastic artist is based on the representation of the figure and the body. Named “In Memory of Me”, his creation is in line with the current communication trends as he prints a naked man who takes a selfie.

Throughout this 3rd edition of Révélations, more than 400 creators, designers, and foundations will appreciate his masterpiece.

To speak about the manufacturing, Initial first scanned the model, Andres San Juan, in order to get a 3D digital file. The statue is printed in 3D using the stereolithography method. It consists in obtaining a high precision by superimposing very thin layers of liquid photopolymer. Chiselling and polishing are added to realize this rendering.

200 hours of manual work to get a perfect rendering

Stéphane Simon’ s other works of art, highlighting the 3D printing of Initial are shown at the exhibition Imprimer le monde of the Pompidou Centre until June 19th, 2017.
