In April this year, Siemens and Accenture formed the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a dedicated business practice comprising 7,000 professionals with manufacturing and IT experience.
Together, both companies aim to co-develop and jointly market solutions that combine automation, industrial AI, and software from the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio with Accenture’s data and AI capabilities.
After the launch at Hannover Messe, Formnext provided an opportunity to spotlight their services for the AM industry. At the heart of this offering for the AM community is an AI-based orchestrator designed to boost productivity.
Improving design, simulation, and production planning across the AM value chain.
Siemens and Accenture built their joint showcase for AM on Accenture’s Engineering Orchestrator and Siemens’ Designcenter™ NX™ Software, Simcenter™ Hypermesh, Polarion™, and NX AM.
This AI system orchestrates complex engineering tasks, including requirements management, CAD design, simulation, and additive build preparation, in real-time. It optimizes workflow in real time, reduces manual efforts, and eliminates the need for deep expertise in each individual design, simulation, and manufacturing engineering tool.
“Additive Manufacturing customers can now orchestrate complex engineering workflow steps across the AM value chain by using AI and natural language – within the tools itself and across the value chain. This accelerates the transformation to the next generation of manufacturing enabled by AM in multiple industries “, explains Dr. Karsten Heuser, VP Additive Manufacturing & Head of Company Core Technology Advanced Manufacturing & Circularity at Siemens.
The orchestrator could truly be a disruptor for firms ready to embrace ‘Industry 4.0 + AI + digital twin + automation.’ Although it promises speed, flexibility and cost-efficiency for early adopters, concerns remain regarding the required investments, integration challenges, digital-maturity levels, and the risk of over-promising. Demonstrating concrete use cases that show how execution meets ambition will be essential to drive moderate transformation among advanced manufacturers — and, in the long run, enable broader industry-wide disruption. That is, ultimately, what we look forward to discovering.
