Who would have thought that the Military Additive Manufacturing Summit & Technology Showcase would be one of the most anticipated conferences of the beginning of this year?

The event organized by the Defense Strategies Institute (DSI) will hold its 9th edition this year. Afte a 2024 marked by an increasing use of AM across the defense industry, this 2025 edition of MILAM promises to highlight the different areas where AM could play a tangible role in the sector. As explained in our “2024 year in review” article, the Biden administration had requested a budget of US$849.8 billion for the Department of Defense (DoD) for fiscal 2025. The budget priorities would act as a catalyst for further industry spending in unmanned systems and the space economy. With the Trump administration onboard, let’s see if this should remain a priority.

In the meantime, MILAM 2025 will continue to serve as a crucial platform for military, government, international partners and industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and strategize on integrating additive technologies. “It aims to enhance current capabilities and maintain competitiveness across all aspects of defense. This Summit offers the unique opportunity to expand your network, explore diverse industry products and services, and gain insights into the future of global AM technologies”, the DSI said.

Key topics of discussion for this 2025 edition include:

  • Creating DoD’s Largest Printable Part Repository to Overcome the Limitations of Traditional Acquisition Systems
  • Employing Tactical Additive Solutions Across the Services: Meeting AM Requirements for Modern Warfare
