¥1299 ($188 USD) is the market entry price of Future, Peak Sport’s first 3D printed sneakers. A few days ago in Beijing, the sportswear company launched the commercialization of the first pair of 3D printed sneakers in the country.
Manufacturers used selective laser sintering (SLS) 3D printers and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) powder material. This material provides the flexibility and breathability required to make the shoes as comfortable as possible.
The midsole is characterized as flexible and lighter and is realized with advanced 3D printing technologies.
For Peak Sport’s General Manager, Xu Zhihua “The Future sneakers are the newest achievement brought by Peak Sport’s innovative strategy. [Their goal] is to build Peak Sport into the most international, professional, and innovative sports brand in China.”
Change occurred in 2013 when operational R&D centers began to explore the use of 3D printing for shoes. Peak Sport follows sportswear giants such as Adidas and Under Armour. It “will strive to become the leading sports brand in China and go international.”
